Just saw a client today that had a vacation and said she never walked so much, and felt so great. Another client with back pain, I tell her to walk as much as she can without creating pain, her pain is improving.
Most problems, in my opinion, can be solved by walking. I’ll never forget when a “fit” girl scoffed at me for walking a 5k. Then she described her litany of injuries from her “sports.” I asked her if anyone had ever analyzed her gait, or the way she moves in general. She laughed again and stated she had been to every type of doctor on the planet. Had none of them told her maybe she should back off on distance running and just WALK? I walk on average 6 miles per day. I have zero injuries. Sometimes I walk hard, like Johnny Cash. Other times, I walk calmer. But I assure you this: I walk. If you feel like running, then SPRINT – following it with walking. Then sprint again. Park in the back of the lot and walk. Walk up the stairs and skip the escalator. It all counts.
