I have been contemplating this blog for a while, it is time. It is nothing amazingly groundbreaking, but in my professional world filled with social media and testimonials, it is a much-debated topic. A few weeks ago, I had a student shadowing me and he tried to get me to name clients I have worked with. I knew I had to write about this topic, only if my shadowing students read this and understand my position.
I do NOT name drop. I do NOT ask for pictures. I do NOT ask for testimonials. It seems if you want to grow a business you would want to name drop and have all these pictures and testimonials from public personalities. Here are my reasons why you will NOT experience any of the above:
My hands have touched 2361 people during my career, my phone holds the phone numbers and home addresses to people from every walk of life. While my table has so many wonderful stories to tell, I do not. I will help a client exit from a back door, if that makes them feel more comfortable. Don’t get me wrong, I get excited and find it an extreme honor when someone who uses their body to make a living decides to spend time on my table. And, I do, have some most amazing testimonials but those testimonials come from all walks of life. If I receive a testimonial it is because that client has had an experience that is worth sharing. My testimonials are echoes of the success clients get every day. I have been blessed beyond what I imagined and look forward to many more years helping people feel better, move better and perform better every day. |
